Favourite music:
My fast and super loud aerobics music is just the best! I aim to add new music to every class I teach and I find so much motivation from these ‘beats’! Most people might not know, but I have a very strong musical background so I always welcome any music that allows me the freedom to express myself. “Live according to the beat of your own drum!”
Favourite colour:
Green, and more recently I have crossed over to Pink! I grew up being a ‘tomboy’ so pink was always a banned unspoken rule!
Favourite exercise:
No surprise here, CARDIO! I know what this does for my physique and like it or not…a girl’s got to do what a girls’ got to do! My advice, play those tunes really loud on your iPod and just get it done!
Favourite cheat meal:
It’s Pizza! But as I mature in age I have found that I have allowed myself this cheat meal far less. It’s just a lethal calorie to consume, but just tastes so good! “Discipline means doing what you have to do, even if you don’t want to!”
Favourite book/ Magazine:
I read so much as an attorney and through the years I have had to find a love for reading up on legal material which in a very ‘nerdy’ way has now become what I refer to as fun! But, any fitness material can just keep me busy for days on end. Especially reading up on anatomy and nutrition and this will usually lead to a long discussion between myself and Jacques on different methods, practices and ending in a quiz as to who knows more muscles by name!
What’s in your gym bag:
A bunch of CD’s, my training- planning book for all my classes, a resistance band and skipping rope, my injury prevention product Sweet Sweat, Ipod, CPR kit, stopwatch, tanning cream and a bunch of supplements and apples (to prevent those sugar drops).
Favourite motivational quotes:
“We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same. Only you have the power to make this choice!”
“I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.”
“Rest if you must, but don’t you quit!”
“Some succeed because they are destined. Some succeed because they are determined.”
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
“You can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get old.”
“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”
“I don’t have to be perfect. All I have to do is show up and enjoy the messy, imperfect, and beautiful journey of my life. It’s a trip more wonderful than I could have imagined.”
“Nothing ever goes away until it teaches us what we need to know.”
“People often say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that you are the beholder.”

How many excuses do you come up with to break that promise of living a healthy lifestyle? I know my own: When I go to the grocery store my worst nightmare is standing in the queue. It feels like the liquorice-fudge-like sweeties stare at me, begging me to just buy one more packet. The “last…
